Dr. Thomas Smith is a Cardiologist with Great Lakes Cardiovascular and an expert in vein treatments.
Dr. Smith can assess your individual situation and offer both surgical and non-surgical options to correct
your vein issues.

Chronic Venous Insufficiency

This condition develops when the vein valves in the leg aren’t working properly to keep blood flowing back toward the heart. This is a fairly common condition, especially in older adults, and it leads to two primary vein issues:

Varicose Veins: If you have noticed twisted, swollen, or bulging veins in your legs that are dark in color, you may have varicose veins. This condition can cause swelling, throbbing, and pain in your legs, especially if you sit or stand in one position for an extended period of time. You may also notice your legs feeling heavy as you move around. More than 40 million Americans suffer with varicose veins. Often people assume nothing can be done, and it just a condition that is part of aging that they must live with. It isn’t! Let Dr. Smith examine you and give you options to help eliminate your pain.

Spider Veins: Spider veins are small, thin veins that are most often found on your legs or face. They can vary in color from blue, purple, or red. Unlike varicose veins, spider veins aren’t painful, and they aren’t dangerous. However, many people seek treatment for cosmetic purposes. Dr. Smith can help. He has options to address your spider veins that are simple, safe, and effective.

If you suffer from any of these symptoms, and would like to schedule a consultation with Dr. Smith,
he is currently accepting new patients at all of his Western New York offices.

If a procedure is determined to be appropriate it will be performed at Dr. Smith's Orchard Park Location.
